Plettenberg Bay, Jewel of the South African Garden Route

Plettenberg Bay, in the heart of the Garden Route, is about 550 km east of Cape Town, with the Tsitsikamma mountain range on the one the side and the Robberg peninsula on the other. For many good reasons „Plett“ is one of the most popular holiday resorts in South Africa, and can easily be reached by air from most major centres. It has a well-established infrastructure and excellent restaurants which receive their fresh supplies daily from the sea and the surrounding farms.
While Europe is in the grip of winter, Plett experiences a stunning summer. But also during the rest of the year it has a mild climate with more than 300 days of sunshine, which results in an abundance of flowering plants all year round. It is an absolute paradise for nature lovers, who can enjoy the solitude of hiking trails in the Tsitsikamma National Park and the Robberg Nature Reserve, or soak up the tranquility of a boating trip down the Keurbooms River.
It is notable that South Africa has one of the most stringent laws in the world for the protection of the environment and nature as a whole. Kilometers of beach of the „Golden Arch“ of Plett, with protected bays of the Indian Ocean, are a bathing paradise and invitation for all kinds of water sports. Dolphins play in the surf and from September to November the whales visit the Bay and attract spectators and whale watchers from around the globe.
