Spanning approximately 60 hectares of rolling hills, lush greenery, and scenic landscapes, the Estate offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the ocean—a true haven for those seeking natural beauty and tranquillity.

The Estate began as a shared dream—a vision brought to life by a group of like-minded foreign investors. They envisioned a secure sanctuary for residents, nature and wildlife. The unspoiled natural surroundings are home to a wide range of animal and bird life, that adds to the sense of community.

Schoongezicht Country Estate comprises  186 Erven , with property sizes ranging from 450m² to 3,350m². The typography of the land features gently rolling hills with an elevation of approximately 140 meters. The Estate is rich in biodiversity, boasting a wide variety of fynbos and an indigenous forest that includes a remarkable canyon of milkwood trees. This delicate balance between residential living and nature conservation is central to the Estate’s character.

To preserve its natural beauty, renowned Landscape Architectural Designer Anthony Wain collaborated closely with CapeNature and environmental authorities. Their efforts ensured that the Estate’s development remained sensitive to the surrounding environment, maintaining the unique character of the land.

Conveniently located near Plettenberg Bay’s pristine beaches and the iconic Robberg Nature Reserve, Schoongezicht offers residents not only spectacular ocean and mountain views but also easy access to the best the Garden Route has to offer. The Estate’s thoughtful design emphasizes spacious living and seamless integration with nature, with homes carefully positioned to complement and enhance the surrounding environment.

Schoongezicht Country Estate stands as a testament to the vision of its founders, offering an unparalleled lifestyle where natural beauty and modern comforts coexist in perfect harmony.

Homeowners Association and Governance

The Schoongezicht Homeowners Association (HOA) operates under a comprehensive constitution designed to maintain the Estate’s high standards, foster community well-being, and preserve its natural charm. The HOA is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of a minimum of three and a maximum of five members, elected annually at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) . This system ensures active homeowner involvement and representation in decision-making processes.

Leadership and Team

At the helm of the Estate’s management is General Manager Andries Du Plessis, whose leadership and expertise ensure that Schoongezicht is well-run and consistently meets the needs of its residents. Andries oversees day-to-day operations and works closely with a dedicated team, including:

Accounts Manager: Handles the Estate’s financial management and homeowner accounts.

Maintenance Manager: Ensures the Estate’s infrastructure and landscaping are meticulously maintained.

Security Manager: Oversees the safety of residents and the implementation of the Estate’s advanced security measures.

Security and Outsourced Services

Schoongezicht Country Estate prioritises safety through a hybrid security system. This combines in-house personnel with a partnership with a local security company, enabling the use of cutting-edge measures such as canine units, drones, and armed response teams. These resources work in tandem to provide a safe and secure living environment for all residents.

Vision of the Trustees and Future of the Estate

The Trustees, supported by the General Manager and the HOA team, are committed to upholding the Estate’s unique identity while ensuring sustainable growth and enhancement of resident life. Future plans emphasise maintaining the balance between development and environmental conservation. These efforts include protecting the Estate’s indigenous forest areas, green belts, and nearly two kilometres of scenic boardwalks that offer residents peaceful walks through nature.

As Schoongezicht continues to grow, the vision of its leadership is to preserve its natural beauty, provide an unparalleled living experience, and create a legacy for future generations
